63 Hours Mega Train Block in Mumbai to affects 954 local Trains
Central Railway said the blocking was necessary for "infrastructure upgradation". 63 Hours of Mega Block— this means that Mumbai local trains will be affected by this mega block for about 3 days.
Central Railway has appealed to people not to travel locally, however Central Railway has requested BEST and MSRTC to run additional buses.
Mumbai, 954 local Trains will affect Badly by 63 Hours Mega Train Block
Central Railway will impose a mega block of 63 hours from midnight of 30th May to extend the railway network in Mumbai. 954 trains in Mumbai will remain closed for 3 days due to Mega Black, out of which 161 trains will be closed on Friday, 534 trains on Saturday and 235 trains on Sunday.
Facility of Additional Buses
To provide convenience to the passengers during the 3-day Mega Block, Central Railway has requested Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to run additional buses.
What Central Railway is Saying on this Mega Blockage ?
"A 63-hour mega block for the widening of platform nos 5 and 6 (in Thane) will start from Thursday midnight while a 36-hour block for the works related to the extension of platform nos 10 and 11 (at CSMT) will kick in from Friday midnight,” Rajneesh Goyal, divisional railway manager of Central Railway’s Mumbai division, told a press conference on Wednesday.Special Block Alert!

Including 72 Mail Suburban Trains
Chief Public Relation Officer of Central Railway, Swapnil Nila said in his statement that a total of 72 mail-express trains and 956 Mumbai suburban trains will be stopped from Friday to Sunday on Mumbai Main and Harbour Corridors.

"There will be unavoidable cancellation of suburban trains. Hence, we request all the establishments to give your staff the opportunity to work from home or any other means possible to reduce the number of passengers on these days,” Swapnil Nila Mentioned.
Why Central Railway is blocking Local Trains for 63 Hours ?
According to the Statement, Mega Block is being imposed to expand and widen the platforms of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Thane Railway Stations. It was also mentioned in the statement that under normal circumstances, the expansion process of Thame railway station takes three to four months to be completed.

But Central Railway has decided to implement new technology due to which 6 months work will be completed in just 3 days.

Appeal of Avoid travelling by local Trains
It has been decided to short terminate and short originate several Mail Express and Suburban trains from Vadala, Dadar, Thane, Pune, Panvel and Nashik. There is a High possibility that local trains and long distance travel trains may be badly affected during the 63 hours block period, due to this Central Railway has appealed to the people to avoid travelling by local trains if possible.
