Bengaluru Highest Ever Heavy Rainfall Crossed 133 Year of Record, 110mm in Single Day

The single day heavy rainfall that occurred in Bengaluru at midnight of 1 June completed the monthly Quota rainfall of Bengaluru — crossed the Highest Ever Record 133 years of 101mm rainfall, as a result,  livelihood came to a halt in Bengaluru. 

On a large scale, road infrastructure and construction suffered large Scale damage, more than 600 trees came on the roads due to strong winds of 30-40 Kmph, out of which 200 trees were uprooted from their roots.

Highest Ever Rainfall of 133 Years Hit Bengaluru, Exceeded Monthly Rainfall Quota 

As soon as the first month of monsoon started in June, heavy rainfall started breaking the record, in Bengaluru the record of last 133 years of heavy rainfall was broken. The Cloudburst rain in Bengaluru has caused problems for netizens, People have to think many times before leaving their houses. 

Pouring Heavy Rainfall on Sunday Midnight 

However, if we talk about it, the monsoon has not even started yet and yet the highest rainfall record has been broken, so the thing to think about is what wonders the rains of July will show. Bengaluru's single day rainfall till Sunday midnight was 111 mm and it is considered the wettest day of June so far.

Insight of the Scenario given by Deputy CM Shivkumar 

Deputy CM Shivkumar giving insight into the damage caused by heavy rains in Bengaluru, said that 3 people were injured, 265 trees fell, 96 trees were cleared, 365 tree branches fell, 261 Electric Poles stopped working. He also said that, "694 complaints have been given to the BBMP control room." Out of which 525 complaints were also examined and 69 Complaints are remaining."This will be resolved soon. People's lives matter. Therefore, if old buildings like Mumbai are on the verge of collapse, they should be identified and relocated immediately..."

As Report by Indian Metrological Department 

IMD, in its report, warned people that the wind speed in the city will remain at 30-40 kilometres per hour till Monday and there is a full possibility of clouds remaining in Bengaluru city for the next few days. Along with Gusty and strong winds,the Possibility of lightning and thunderstorms was also Noted.  According to data received from Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Bengaluru city received moderate and general rainfall in all parts of the city. 

Exceeded Monthly Rainfall Quota of Bengaluru 

According to the research records of the Indian Meteorological Department, the previous highest ever rainfall record of Bengaluru was of 16 June 1891 – although it has been broken now. Surprisingly Bengaluru's June monthly rainfall quota is complete. The average monthly rainfall in Bengaluru in June since many Decades has been 110.3 mm.
As Per the Report of India Meteorological Department — 111mm is just one day's rainfall, in the last days of June the rain in Bengaluru city has crossed 120mm.

BJP Leader Tejasvi Surya Criticized Congress for "Waterlogging" in  Bengaluru 

On this, BJP leader and South Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya said Congress “failed” to manage Waterlogging and and "stormwater drain management" also criticized Congress's one-year Administration in Bengaluru by Tweeting on Platform X 

“One bout of rain and Bengaluru is in utter chaos - roads flooding, homes inundated, trees falling on cars and disrupting traffic and metroâ€æ Despite being in power for more than a year with close to no rain, Congress failed to take preventive measures to tackle waterlogging and stormwater drain management,” 

Large Scale Heavy Loss due to this Record Breaking Heavy Rainfall 

The pouring rain has put a stop to the traffic and at the same time has caused huge damage to the construction and infrastructure built on a large scale. The single day's rain in Bengaluru wreaked such havoc in the city that it destroyed more than 600 trees. The heavy rain that occurred last night and the gusty winds have uprooted more than 100 trees in the city so far, and more than 500 tree Branches have fallen on the road. 

Electricity transmission cut down in the Major parts of the City 

Due to strong winds along with rain, many highways and main roads in the city had to be closed for Vehicle, there has been massive damage to road infrastructure. Due to strong winds, power wires broke and suddenly power transmission stopped in the entire city.

Large Scale Rainfall in Maruti Nagar, Hampi Nagar and...

Although almost the parts of Bengaluru was affected by this "Pouring Rain", the highest rainfall of 110.5 was reported in Hampi Nagar, after this comes Maruti Ward area where 89.5mm rain was recorded, 87.5mm rain was recorded in Cottonpet, in Maruti Mandir Ward rainfall of 89.5mm was Recorded, followed by Vidyapeeth 88.5mm of Rainfall. 

Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Multiple  Karnataka Region 

North Interior Karnataka's Dakshina, Belgavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Vijayapura Bagalkote or South Interior Karnataka's Ballari, Bengaluru (rural and urban), Chikkaballapura, Davangere, Chitradurga, Hassan, Mysuru, officials have predicted full Possibility of heavy rainfall in all these Karnataka Region.
