According to the Sources of Air India Express, till yet more than 200 cabin crew members have reported sick. On Wednesday, 16 flights operated by Air India from Delhi alone were cancelled. Multiple flights of Air India Express have been Cancelled from Airport's of Bangalore, Kochi, Calicut. Air India Express operates a total of 360 flights in the summer season, this means Today Every 1 Out of Every 4 Flight of Air India have Been Cancelled.
Unmasking the Reason for Sudden Cancellation
The reason behind the sudden flight cancellations of Air India Express is said to be the cabin crew members falling ill together. Although till now the official reason has not been given by Air India Express, but sources of Air India have been saying that for quite some time, due to not giving equal treatment to Cabin Crew Members were not Happy And Discontent Regarding the Merge of Air Asia with Air Asia ( Formerly Known as Air India Express )
Complaint of Staff and Cabin Crew Members
The issue of Mismanagement and Arguments Among Cabin Crew Members in Air India Express has been going on for a long time. But this issue increased even more when Air India Express merged with Air Asia. Crew members complain that they do not get equal treatment. There is a lot of importance regarding room sharing of crew members. According to multiple reports, crew members are facing a lot of problem in room sharing during layoffs.
On November 2023 Regarding this issue, Air India Express Employee Union AIXEU, wrote a letter to Union Civil Aviation Ministers, Jyotiraditya Scindia regarding Problems in Mismanagement, Room Sharing, inequality in Treatment in Air India.
"A Show Cause" Notice Given to Air India Express
After one month on December 2023, a notice is sent to Air India Express from the Union Labor Ministry. In which the Union Labor Ministry had issued "A Show Cause" Notice for the problem, Mismanagement, Argument and alleged Violation of rules raised by the Cabin Crew Members of Air India Express, and Sought a Response from Air India Express on all these issues.
After more than 80 domestic and international flights were delayed or canceled in one day, a spokesperson of Air India Express said that a cabin crew sick was reported in the last minute, due to which the flight was delayed or canceled.

The Air India Express in its Official Twitter Handle Wrote that, "We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by unprecedented flight delays and cancellations. While we are working hard to minimise disruptions, please check your flight status before heading to the airport. Statement of an Spokesperson from Air India
The Spokesperson Mentioned that," A section of our cabin crew reported sick at the last minute, starting last night, resulting in flight delays and cancellations. While we are engaging with the crew to understand the reasons behind these occurrences, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimise any inconvenience caused to our guests as a result."
For Compensation full Refund or Supplementary Rescheduling
The spokesperson apologizes for this inconvenience on behalf of Air India Express and talks about Full Compensation through Refund or Supplementary Rescheduling to another date in lieu of Flight Cancellation. He Further Added, "We sincerely apologise to our guests for this unexpected disruption and emphasise that this situation does not reflect the standard of service we strive to provide. Guests impacted by cancellations will be offered a full refund or complimentary rescheduling to another date,"
The spokesperson further requested the passengers "to check if their flight is affected, before heading to the airport".
Ghulam Nabi Azad,"...Why did they fool everyone?" to Air India Express
Today, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir or Active Politician Ghulam Nabi Azab, also came to go from Delhi to Srinagar by Air India Express Flight. He also got very angry on the sudden flight cancellations and said that, ""I was supposed to leave in the morning. But I am now leaving on an IndiGo flight after sitting here for 3-4 hours. If the flights were cancelled, they should have informed us in the morning itself. Why did they fool everyone?"
"When I was the civil aviation minister, Air India pilots called for a strike for 40 days. Then we brought the private airlines. But they (Air India) learnt no lesson," Ghulam Nabi Azad Further Added.
