Water Level of 7 Mumbai Lakes Cross 90% Mark, Key Reservoirs of Mumbai Started Overflowing

Mumbai Lakes Water Level: Mumbai, which is surrounded by sea on all three sides, has reached its lowest point due to Heavy Rainfall. Due to heavy rains, entire Mumbai is flooded with water, 7 major lakes of Mumbai have crossed their 90% mark. BMC has claimed that this is a much higher level as compared to the previous years.

The lakes have crossed the dangerous mark due to heavy rains in the financial capital of India, surrounded from all three sides. According to the latest update, 7 big lakes of Mumbai city have crossed the 90% mark. This level is much higher than the previous years.

As of Sunday, the Combined water of all the 7 major 7 lakes was 12,89,615 million liters which is almost 89.1% of their total capacity. The worries of the people living near the lakes have increased, they are afraid of the lake water coming home.

The Seven Lakes Includes the Major Key Lakes of Mumbai 

This data was shared by Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday, the names of those seven lakes are -- Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tulsi, Vihar, Modak Sagar and Tansa. By 6 am in the morning, the water in these lakes was recorded above 90% level.

Heavy Rain Alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar District of Maharashtra 

The rise in water level directly means that all this is happening due to heavy rains. Mumbai is a city which is surrounded by water from all sides and the chances of rains are even more severe here. 

The Indian Meteorological Department issued its statement saying that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts and along with this a Yellow Alert was also issued.

Key Water Supplier for Mumbai is Started Overflowing

BMC also informed that one of the important water supply reservoir of financial capital Mumbai, Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Reservoir is also overflowing.

Due to Drastic changes in Mumbai's weather, there is a threat of tides in the coastal areas. According to the statement of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a high tide of 4.35 Metre will hit Mumbai today at 12:23 pm. According to another civic body, low tide will hit Mumbai at 6.27 minutes in the evening.
