Cracks on Mumbai's Atal Setu ? Is this True or Just a Rumour, MMRDA Confirmed

Are there really cracks in Mumbai's Atal Setu, built at a cost of ₹ 18,000 crores ? Are there cracks in the MTHL inaugurated 6 months ago? —  the answer "Nah". Nana Patole called the inauguration of Atal Setu by PM Modi as "unfortunate". 

Is there Cracks in Indian's Longest Sea Bridge "Atal Setu" ? 

Now after the Multi-Billion Mumbai Coastal Project Road, many deficiencies are found in the Atal Setu too. Nana Patole said, Multiple Cracks appear in India's longest sea bridge, Atal Setu, built at a cost of Rs 18,000 crore in Mumbai.

As soon as the news of cracks being seen in Atal Setu came into the "spotlight", there was quite a heat in the politics of Maharashtra also. 

Allegation of "Corruption" on BJP and MMRDA, Nana Patole
Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patola accused BJP and MMRDA of "corruption" and expressed anger over the cracks found in Atal Setu and emphasized the cost of MTHL of ₹ 18,000 crore.
"Prime Minister Shri. It is very worrisome that the "Atal Setu" bridge, which was inaugurated by Narendra Modi just three months ago, has cracked."
Opposition parties are levelling allegations of "corruption" against the Maharashtra government, in response to which the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has clarified that there is no structural defect in the construction of the bridge and the cracks are minor.

MMRDA Confirmed that Cracks are not on Atal Setu 

MMRDA clearly stated that these cracks are not on MTHL but on the road connecting MTHL to Ulwe.
Kailash Gantara, Project Head of Atal Setu, clarifies, 

"This is a service road, a temporary connecting line, and part of the main bridge. It was constructed at the last moment due to the coastal road not being built. These are minor cracks, and construction work has already started."



What MMRDA is Responding to this Allegation of "Corruption" ? 
"There have been rumours circulating about cracks on the MTHL bridge. We want to clarify that these cracks are not on the bridge itself but on the approach road connecting MTHL from Ulwe towards Mumbai." 

MMRDA has fully confirmed the cracks in Atal Setu from its side and has also assured that it will be repaired within 24 hours. Sharing a latest video of the bridge being repaired, MMRDA said.

"Repair work of Atal Setu approach road is going on, repair of approach road is going on uninterruptedly during monsoon night and will be completed within 12 hours. The cracks on this approach are minor and are on the side of the road." 

"The approach road from Ulwe towards Mumbai is being repaired without disrupting the traffic. So you can travel fast through Atal Setu without any hindrance in your journey." 

Atal Setu inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 January 

On January 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's longest sea bridge, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, built in Mumbai. Atal Setu has a 21.8 km long 6 lane Sea Bridge which connects South Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. Atal Setu is also known as Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL). It has been built at a cost of ₹17,840 crore.

Demanded Investigation and Action  of High Court, Nana Patole 

Congress leader Nana Patole himself went and inspected the cracks of Atal Setu and shared its pictures on his Twitter handle, calling the matter "Very Serious" and also demanded "Immediate Notice" and investigation in this matter from the Honourable High Court. In a recent Twitter Post, 
"A large number of cracks have created an atmosphere of panic among the travelers. While the incident of the collapse of a newly constructed bridge in Bihar is fresh, many questions are being raised about the government's work as this shocking incident has come to light in Mumbai as well." 

"At this time, the spokesperson of the State Congress Committee Shri. Madan Jadhav, Secretary Shri. Ramakant Mhatre, Shri. Ramvijay Burungule and other dignitaries were present."
