Latest Update : Taiwan Struck by Devastating 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake

Taiwan reels from a devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake, with over 1100 dreadful aftershocks since April 3rd. It is said to be "Concentrated Release of Energy".


Now again a series of earthquakes have started in Taiwan. However, after the earthquake of April 3, very strong earthquake shocks were felt in many areas including the capital of Taiwan. The epicenter of the Ongoing Earthquake Series is said to be "Hualian" region, a sparsely populated and remote region of Taiwan.

More than 1100 Aftershocks


After the dreadful Shocks of 3 April,
So far, more than 1100 aftershocks have been felt in Taiwan. More than 80 aftershocks have been experienced in the epicenter of the earthquake since Monday night. The earthquake with the highest magnitude had a magnitude of 6.3, the epicentre of this highest magnitude is said to be the capital of Taiwan, Taipei.

Common for the Citizens 


However, this is not a Shocking thing for Citizens in Taiwan. Experiencing  Earthquake shocks are common there  — but now these shocks are spreading terror. Taiwan is very well equipped to deal with earthquakes, although the buildings and Infrastructure there is also earthquake proof, but there is also little infrastructure that has already been built and is unable to withstand the earthquakes that are going on so fast. 


As you can see in the picture, how a multi-storey building has collapsed due to the earthquake.

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration believes that Taiwan is located at the junction of two tectonic plates, and because of this  experiencing earthquakes is Obvious. The Director of Seismological Center Wu Chien-Fu told reporters that this is a "Concentrated Release of Energy", more than could be expected, but perhaps the earthquake is not that strong.

" Most Devastating" Earthquake in the History Of Taiwan


The most devastating earthquake in the history of Taiwan occurred in 1999 and its magnitude was approximately 7.4, its epicenter was the Chi Chi area or later the earthquake was given the title of "Jiji Earthquake 1999". It occurred on 21 September 1999 in which approximately 2415 people died and more than 11300 people were injured. You will be surprised to know that from September 21 till the next month, more than 12900 aftershocks were experienced in Taiwan – so you can imagine how terrible that scene would be. 


Loss of $300 Billion 


Its epicenter is Taichung County, where 1094 people have died, 3648 people have injured badly. There was a lot of damage to buildings and construction, according to reports, 51,711 buildings were destroyed and 53,768 buildings were damaged in Japan. The earthquake caused a net loss of $300 billion ( ₹ 25 Trillion ) to Taiwan, which was 10% of Taiwan's GDP at the time.
