The Most Attractive Schengen Visa Implemented in Thailand, going to have a significant impact in Economy. Tourism generates about $ 48 Billion in Thailand, Which is 20% of its GDP.

Currently, Thailand has taken a big step along with 5 countries to improve its Tourism and Travel sector or the reduced number of visitors during Covid 19. To speed up its tourism sector, Thailand has decided to implement the Schengen style visa in its country soon. 

This move is also going to have a very positive impact on Thailand's declining exports and unstable manufacturing sector.

Recently, the Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin, has discussed this matter with 5 countries namely Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam.

What is Schengen Visa ?

Let us tell you what is this Schengen style visa, Schengen style visa is a visa which is applicable in  29 Countries and all this Countries are European except 5 or 6 countries including UK, Ireland Romania. Countries where Scehngen Style visa is applicable including Hungary, Greece, Luxembourg, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and 29 European countries. Schengen areas are those which have abolished their mutual borders and strong check system.

The Schengen Visa is attractive to long-haul and much spending travelers. As per Blomberg's report, talks are going on with Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, or Myanmar regarding implementation of this new syle Visa.

Influence on Indian Tourist 

Well, it is not surprising that the Schengen style visa being implemented by Thailand in India will not have much impact. Because from the beginning, Indian visitors have so much exception regarding visa and much more – as Indian visitors already have the option of e-visa and Visa-on-arrival.

Reason to Implement "Schengen Style Visa" 

Although till now not a single Asian country has implemented Schengen Visa, then why do 5 countries including Thailand want to implement Schengen Visa  —Let's know 

Last year a total of 70 Million international tourists came to all 6 countries out of which Thailand had the highest number of International Tourists. According to reports, Thailand was the most visited Country in Asia in 2019 — or you will be surprised to know that in 2018, 58.8% of the International Tourists came to Thailand again, from this figure you can know how famous Thailand is in the World in terms of Tourism and Travel.

Expanding Tourism Sector 

In 2019, 39.8 million tourists came to Thailand, but during Covid 19 the tourist influx dropped to 430 thousand, due to which Thailand's employment sector also suffered huge losses. According to World Bank reports, 20% of Thailand's GPD depends on tourism or travel industry in Thailand, or 21.4% of employment in Thailand in 2018 was generated from tourism sector alone.

Apart from this, Thailand, which has an economy of $500 million, generates $48 billion from tourists, which is about 20% of the total economy.

Visit Thailand Visa-Free : For Indians Only 

After all, Thailand has a strong relation with India and because of this, Thailand has run a visa-free program for Indian visitors to visit Thailand for 30 days applicable from November 2023 to 10 May 2024, which allows Indian visitors to visit Thailand, without going through a long and difficult process of Visa.
