Delhi Farmers Protest : Bhagwant Maan said, ".. assistance of rs 1 cr...
The farmers' movement that has been going on since 13th February has not yet reached any definite conclusion, but instead of getting resolved, it is getting more complicated.
Recently, on 23 February, 21 year old farmer youth Shubhakaran Singh, belonging to Balkode in Bathinda district, died due to bullet injury. After which the farmers are directly blaming the government and the government has also assured that they will take the strictest action against the policeman who opened fire.
Regarding this matter, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that "...The Punjab government is spending so much time and energy on the family to agree for compensation and job. It is a suggestion to them that they must spend even half of this energy on looking into the demands of the farmers and daring to lodge an FIR against the culprits who killed Shubhkaran."
In an interview he said that "Dialogues were being held with the Punjab Government after the death of Shubhkaran Singh...All our demands were accepted, that case u/s 302 (murder) be filed against those who attacked, that Punjab Government give the status of 'martyr' to Shubhkaran Singh, that discussions on compensation were held with his family, and that a Board will be constituted for his postmortem & its videography will be done...It has been more than 14 hours now but Punjab Government is not giving any answer. So, Shubhkaran Singh's body is lying in the hospital. Punjab Government is insulting the martyrdom of our martyrs, this is condemnable. They are saying that the site of the incident will have to be investigated - whether it is located in Punjab or Haryana...I don't think we will be able to perform the last rites of Shubhkaran Singh as of now. The dialogues with the Punjab Government are yet to complete."
On 24 February, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan said that the family members of Shubhakaran Singh, who was martyred due to bullet injury at Khanuri border, will get financial assistance of Rs 1 crore and his youngest sister will also get a government job. He further said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Leaders of Samyukt Kisan Morcha, Jagjit Singh Dallewal Said, "Modi Govt says something in the meeting & a totally different thing in the press conference outside. We don't trust them, they are only wasting time. This is why we reject their proposal as our demands are not being met."
In an exclusive talk with ANI, Mr Tikait said, "We will observe a 'Black Friday' tomorrow condoling the death of a farmer at the Khanauri Border crossing in Punjab. We held a tractor march yesterday as well."
On February 26, we will take tractors to the highway, and towards the way that goes to Delhi. It will be a one-day programme, and then we will return. Then, all across India, our meetings will go on. On March 14, there will be a programme at Ram Leela Ground in Delhi for one day. People will go without tractors to that event. The government keeps saying that they are not stopping us so let's see if they will stop us or not," he added.
