PM modi to Inaugurate BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi, Dubai
On Wednesday 14 february 2024PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Hindu temple. PM Modi is on a visit to UAE from 13 to 14 February 2024. This is the eight visit of Indian PM Modi's to UAE since 2015.
This temple, spread over 27 acres of land, creates a harmony between India and UAE and strings the foundation of the international bond between the two countries.
BAPS Hindu Temple has been built near Abu Mureikhah, Al Rahna area of Abu Dhabi-Dubai National Highway. In 2015, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, donated 13.5 acres of land for the construction of the temple.
Built at a cost of Rs 800 crore, this temple complex is spread over 27 acres of land, where various facilities like visitor centre, exhibition, prayer hall, sport facility, food counter, thematic park, book and gift shop have been provided for the visitors.
The exterior walls are made of pink sandstone which has been brought from Rajasthan. Inside, the white sandstone walls have been hand-crafted by Indian artisans with elaborate artefacts related to Hindu and Sanatan culture.
The vision of building BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi first came to the mind of Pramukh Swami Maharaj (key activist of BAPS organization). Since 1997, continuous efforts were being made on this matter to build this temple. And finally in 2015, land was given by the UAE government to build the temple.
The height of the temple is 108 feet and the land length is 262 feet. Tons of pink sand stone was used to build the temple. The temple is featured with 7 spires, representing the 7 emirates of the UAE, with a flag above the spire which represents Hindu culture. The exterior and interior design and direction is inspired by Hindu Vedic culture.
"What you see behind me is a beautiful BAPS Hindu Temple. It's the first traditional Hindu temple in the United Arab Emirates. It's built on 27 acres of land, gifted by the leadership of the UAE. So we are thankful for the graciousness of the leadership of the UAE and India," he said.
"The significance of this mandir is to breathe in a fresh air of harmony where cultures, religions, communities, and countries can coexist," The head of BAPS Hindu mandir Brahmaviharidas Swami, told ANI.
"Wherever the Indian diaspora is, they're always very keen to listen firsthand to Prime Minister Modi. And we can just see their enthusiasm here, because when we opened the registrations for Ahlan Modi. We had to actually close the registration as soon as the mark touched 65,000 because we could not accommodate anymore," Sudhir said.
He further said, “It is quite an elaborate visit, if you look at it, because this visit will take the prime minister to both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He'll have bilateral meetings with President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, as well as with the Vice President, Ruler of Dubai, the Prime Minister, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in Dubai,".
Ambassador Navdeep Suri said that "This will be the eternal bridge of friendship between our nations, our cultures and civilisations".
Pm modi tweeted in his Twitter handle that "Over the next two days, I will be visiting UAE and Qatar to attend various programmes, which will deepen India's bilateral relations with these nations.
