Mahaparinirvan Diwas : Death anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar
Bhimrao Ambedkar is considered as the father of the Indian Constitution. Mahaparinirvan Day is celebrated as the death anniversary of BR Ambedkar.
The word "Mahaparinirvana" is derived from Sanskrit language which means liberation or final death - that is, the day which is the day of final death.
Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1791 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Bhimrao Ambedkar belonged to the Mahar caste, one of the untouchable/ Dalit castes in India.
Being from a lower caste, he had to face criticism like untouchability during his lifetime, but he never gave up in his life and while struggling, he created excellent history.
He was the head of the 7 members who drafted Indian constitution. He was one of the great scholars and writers of India, he had 32 degrees in different fields. In 1990, he was awarded with Bharat Ratna India's highest civilian Award.
On 6 December 1965, 65-year-old Bhim Rao Ambedkar died due to ill health. It is said that his health was deteriorating since 1954 and he died while sleeping.
