Hardeep Singh Puri leaves for Kuwait to pay tribute to Kuwait Amir


On 16 December 2023, Kuwait's Prince Shiekh Nawaf-al Ahmed Al Sabah passed away at the age of 86. A wave of mourning across the world including the people of Kuwait.

On this challenging time, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Hardeep Singh was sent to kuwait to pay tribute to Highness Nawaf as PM Modi's envoy.

MEA tweeted on platform X saying "Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, will be visiting Kuwait as Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on 17 December to pay condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of India." 

In this hour of mourning, Hardeep Singh paid tribute to the late Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah by remaining silent for 2 minutes.

It is being told that Shiekh Nawaf's health was not going well for many years, in this regard he had also gone to us in 2021. Recently in November this year, he was admitted to the hospital due to secret emergency illness.

On 30 September 2021, Shiekh Nawaf took oath as the Amir of Kuwait. But due to his death his rule did not last for long. He remained king of prosperous Kuwait for only 3 years.

Hardeep Singh said "As a mark of respect to His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, India has declared a day of national mourning on 17 December 2023 to be observed throughout India & at all Indian high commissions/embassies/ consulates abroad."
